Odd Fellows make a pledge "to visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan" when
they join the Order. The Massachusetts Grand Lodge participates in the following activities as part of this.
United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth

Each summer since 1949, Odd Fellows of Massachusetts have sponsored a one-week tour of New York City and
the United Nations for high school students across our state. These students get a once in a lifetime education of global
government in action. Information is available here for the 2006 Pilgrimage.
Arthritis Foundation
An estimated 43 Million people in the United states have at least one form of arthritis. The Odd Fellows and
Rebekahs of Massachusetts are actively involved in raising funds for the Arthritis
Foundation and have received recognition for raising hundreds of dollars through efforts and events each year.
Some of these events include the Arthritis Ball, Arthritis Mini Grand Prix, Orrin J. Eaton Memorial Golf
Tournament, and Arthritis Walk-A-Thon. For more information about upcoming events, click here.
Scholarships and Loans
The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Massachusetts sponsor many scholarships to deserving students of
Massachusetts in amounts exceeding $20,000 annually. Each lodge individually coordinates and sponsors the scholarships available.
The Educational Foundation of IOOF provides thousands of dollars in loans to deserving members and relatives of members for higher education.
Nursing Home
Odd Fellows Nursing Home of Worcester was established in 1892 and is dedicated to long term and
rehabilitative care of our elderly. The Home has been long recognized for excelence in caring for their residents. It is a
100 bed facility.
D.A.R.E. Programs
Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges are actively supporting many local D.A.R.E. programs throughout
Massachusetts. Each lodge supports a program local to them. D.A.R.E is a nonprofit program funded through community and corporate donations that uses police officers to teach
drug prevention and life management skills to elementary, middle, and high school students.. Beginning with just 10 officers in
one school district 16 years ago, D.A.R.E. is now taught to more than 30 million students in the U.S. in more than 300,000
classrooms. That's 80 percent of our nation's school districts. It is taught in all 50 states and in 32 other countries.
Approximately 49,000 D.A.R.E. officers are trained to teach the program.
World Eye Bank
The Odd Fellows support tissue and organ donation programs through fundraising and awareness campaigns.
